Denmark has signed the purchase of four MQ-9B SkyGuardian drones to expand surveillance in the Arctic and North Atlantic regions.

The acquisition was announced by the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) and will be funded by the Acceleration Fund, as part of political agreements aimed at securing these strategic areas.

Delivery is expected between 2028 and 2029. The drones have a flight endurance of over 40 hours and a wingspan of about 24 meters, allowing prolonged operations in remote areas. According to Major General Klaus Kvist, the new fleet represents a significant advance for national defense, expanding monitoring, response capabilities, and intelligence sharing with NATO countries.

The contract includes, in addition to the aircraft, ground control stations, personnel training, and maintenance services.

At the same time, the Danish government also announced the acquisition of new coastal radars from the national company Terma A/S, reinforcing investment in surveillance and defense systems.
